STORAGE-IN-TRANSIT (SIT)

A person is entitled to 90-days temporary storage in conjunction with any authorized HHG transportation. If goods are not removed from storage before expiration of the first 90-day period, storage charges accruing thereafter are the member's responsibility unless additional storage is authorized.

If conditions beyond the member's control prevent delivery, an additional 90 days may be requested in writing to the Destination Personal Property Office who will review/approve it. Temporary storage beyond the 180-day limit may be requested but will be granted only for reasons deemed appropriate by the Service concerned.
